Parliament extraordinary session to open next month
By JT - Jun 20,2018 - Last updated at Jun 20,2018
AMMAN — A Royal Decree was issued on Wednesday summoning the Parliament to convene for an extraordinary session on July 9, a Royal Court statement said.
The purpose of the session is to listen to the policy statement of the newly formed government of Prime Minister Omar Razzaz, on the basis of which the premier will seek the House’s confidence.
Razzaz and his Cabinet took the oath of office last week, replacing the government of Hani Mulki, which had resigned under popular pressure. Thousands of Jordanians, mainly youth and professionals, took to the streets in Amman and other areas to protest economic policies and a controversial income tax bill, which the new premier has withdrawn from the House.
