AMMAN — Aqaba Governor Ghassan Kayed on Thursday announced the implementation of new precautionary and preventive measures against COVID-19, in coordination with the trade and transport facilitation company (Nafith), which oblige truck drivers to fulfil several conditions to receive permission to enter Aqaba.
In a letter addressed to the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority and other relevant authorities, Kayed stipulated that freight drivers will not be permitted to enter the city through its various border crossings until they have taken tests showing that they are COVID-19 negative.
He also required evidence that each driver has been under quarantine, including proof of a quarantine pledge signed at the border 17 days prior, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
