National strategy for vocational guidance launched

AMMAN — The reform programme of the vocational and technical education and training are in accordance with the National Strategy for Human Resources Development, Labour Minister Samir Murad said on Thursday.

He made his remark during the launching ceremony of the national strategy for vocational guidance, which aims at developing a unified and effective training and education system that guarantees the increase of workers who possess the necessary vocational expertise, according to a labour Ministry statement. 

The minister said that the strategy will help Jordanians achieve their ambitions to work at proper jobs and help them effectively participate in entrepreneurship projects, which will consequently contribute to the socioeconomic growth.

As a prerequisite to develop this programme, there had to be a development for the sector governance which went through adopting unified sector policies for training providers, he noted, stressing that the recruitment policy can be implemented through national policies that focus on developing vocational training and then adopting recruitment policies to create new jobs for Jordanians. 

Murad said that the strategy was prepared in cooperation with relevant ministries, public and private institutions and civil community organisations, and was supported by the EU.

The minister noted that the strategy was keen on ensuring partnership and cooperation with all stakeholders in the vocational and technical education, and training through offering guidance services to the targeted categories and enabling them to make decisions on education, training and recruitment. 

He also expressed his appreciation for the national team and donors, especially the EU commission to Jordan, the statement concluded.
