AMMAN — An official Jordanian tourism delegation has concluded a visit to Japan as part of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)-funded Draft Sustainable Plan for Tourism in Petra project, to learn about Japan's experience and ways to enhance cooperation between the two sides in the tourism sector.

The delegates, including Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA) Suleiman Farajat and Tourism Ministry Secretary-General Imad Hijazin, met with senior officials from JICA and acquainted them with tourist products in Petra and PDTRA projects, according to a PDTRA statement on Monday.

Petra's national tourism strategic plan aims to enhance the competitiveness of the tourism sector, prolong tourists' stay in Petra, develop tourism facilities to attract more tourists and encourage sustainable tourism.

JICA financed the Petra Museum that was inaugurated in 2019 with the aim of developing tourist products in Petra.
