AMMAN — A dialogue session was held on Wednesday over developing a strategic tourism plan for Petra, which is funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The session saw the participation of tourism sector representatives as part of a joint four-year project with the JICA and the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA), according to a PDTRA statement.
PDTRA Chief Commissioner Suleiman Farajat highlighted the importance of joining efforts to expand tourist services in a way that conforms to Petra’s status on the global tourism map.
JICA Jordan office director highlighted that the results of the preliminary survey will be shared to identify the activities to support the Petra region as a sustainable tourist destination. JICA has funded Petra Tourism, which was opened in 2019, under Royal patronage with the desire to improve the tourist product in Petra.
