Jordan, Norway discuss Gaza rebuilding conference

AMMAN — Jordan and Norway on Monday discussed the importance of the Gaza rebuilding conference and the expected support from the international community towards that end.

During a meeting between Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh and his Norwegian counterpart, Borge Brende, to review bilateral ties and the latest regional developments, the visiting official outlined the outcomes of his regional tour which included meetings with officials from Egypt, Palestine and Israel.

Judeh stressed Jordan’s readiness to provide all facilities necessary for rebuilding Gaza, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

The rebuilding conference is scheduled to be held on November 12.

Both officials reiterated the importance of resuming the Mideast peace process through negotiations that lead to the establishment of the independent Palestinian state within the pre-1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

They also reviewed the challenges facing the region and stressed the joint efforts of all stakeholders to mitigate these difficulties and maintain security and stability in the region, Petra reported. 

Judeh and Brende discussed the two countries’ “distinguished” bilateral relations and expressed keenness to maintain and develop them at all levels, in addition to continued coordination and consultation regarding several issues, Petra said.   

The Norwegian foreign minister expressed his country’s appreciation and support for the Jordanian role in attempts to achieve security and stability in the Middle East.
