Human Rights Commissioner meets with UN Special Rapporteur

AMMAN — The right to peaceful assembly is guaranteed in the Jordanian Constitution, and this right receives much attention in the annual report on human rights in the Kingdom, Commissioner General for Human Rights Aladdin Armouti said on Wednesday.
On receiving Clément Nyaletsossi, UN Special Rapporteur on the Rights to Freedom of Peaceful Assembly, Armouti said that the National Centre for Human Rights is concerned with monitoring and ensuring the implementation of the right to peaceful assembly and mechanisms to deal with this right as per the law, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Nyaletsossi listened to a briefing on data related to the right to peaceful assembly and the legal constraints for peaceful assembly in Jordan, as well as the exemptions imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic due to the lockdowns.
