Gharaibeh, Iraq telecommunications minister hold virtual meetings

AMMAN — Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Muthana Gharaibeh and Iraq’s Telecommunications Minister Arkan Shaybani on Wednesday discussed cooperation between the two countries in the fields of communications and information technology, notably to benefit from the Kingdom’s experience in distance learning during the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to a ministry statement, the two sides held a series of virtual meetings addressing cooperation in the field of telecommunications, Jordan’s experience in implementing distance learning, data storage, as well as information security and protection, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. 

Gharaibeh said that the meetings have focused on discussing the expansion of Iraq’s Internet capacity through Jordan, noting that the Iraqi market is expected to adopt 4G services during the upcoming year, which necessitates upgrading the country’s infrastructure and expanding its Internet capacities.
