AMMAN — The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) and Bab Al Qamar Company on Monday signed an agreement to develop services presented by yellow taxi cabs within the capital, through providing communication and tracking systems that enable passengers to order taxis.
Amman Mayor Yousef Shawarbeh referred to GAM’s role in developing the public transport sector and improving services, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Abdullah Ayesh, company manager, said that developing these services will benefit drivers and passengers alike, saving time, effort and cost. Abdul Rahim Wreikat, director of the public transport department at GAM, said that the company will start its operations three months after signing the agreement, adding that the number of taxis that offer this service will increase to 8,000 vehicles, affiliated with two companies.
