AMMAN — Senate President Faisal Fayez on Thursday held a meeting with members of the permanent office, presidents of parliamentary committees, and several senators, where he stressed the necessity to conduct “deep” and “comprehensive” discussions over the draft amendments of the Income Tax Law, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
Fayez said that under its constitutional role, the Senate is open to dialogue with all segments of society, including professional and labour association, industrial and commercial chambers’ representatives, as well as civil society organisations to discuss the draft law with “transparency” and “objectivity” to avoid harming the middle- and limited-income segments of the society.
He called on all senators to adopt an open-minded approach in the discussion, stressing that they have no preconceived stands regarding the law and that the Senate’s “sole aim” is “to serve the interests of the country and its citizens”.
