Electricity Distribution Company urges public to help end violations

AMMAN — The Electricity Distribution Company suffers great losses from violations that damage the national grid, EDCO Spokesperson Yassine Al Khattab said Thursday.
EDCO’s generators and spare parts are limited and set according to a plan prepared annually, Khattab said, adding that the equipment is imported and delivery takes time; therefore, violations result in great financial losses as well as long-lasting power outages.
The spokesperson cited Friday’s attack by anonymous persons, who set tyres on fire near the main generator in the Northern Ghor, which resulted in a four-hour power outage.
He said the case was registered at the Northern Ghor security centre to identify the violators, and urged the public to cooperate with EDCO in putting a stop to such actions.
