Eid Al Fitr prayer to be performed at home, Awqaf Ministry says

AMMAN — As part of the precautionary measures to contain the coronavirus outbreak, the Eid Al Fitr prayer will be performed at home, the Awqaf Ministry announced on Tuesday.
In a statement carried by the Jordan News Agency, Petra, Awqaf Minister Mohammad Khalaileh said that the prayer will be held at 6:30am on the first day of the holiday, while the recitation of the Eid takbeerat (marking the beginning of the holiday), will be transmitted through loudspeakers at mosques, which will be kept closed.
Calling on the public to stay home and abide by measures issued by the authorities, Khalaileh said that these measures have been taken to protect public health.
Eid prayers (Salat Al Eid in Arabic) are mass prayers performed twice a year during the Islamic holidays of Eid Al Fitr and Eid Al Adha, and can be performed individually in exceptional circumstances, according to Islamic traditions.
