AMMAN — A drug trafficker was killed and another was arrested during a security operation conducted by the Anti-Narcotics Department (AND), the Public Security Directorate (PSD) announced on Sunday. According to the PSD spokesperson, a specialised security team raided the location of the two drug dealers, one of them classified as “highly dangerous” and wanted on drug-related charges in Jerash.
The team had been monitoring their whereabouts in Mafraq before the operation, the spokesperson said. The official noted that the security forces encountered intense gunfire from the suspects, prompting them to swiftly implement the rules of engagement, resulting in the death of the suspect classified as “highly dangerous” and the arrest of the other. Unspecified amount of illicit drugs, including hashish, along with a firearm, were seized from their possession. An investigation is now underway, the spokesperson added, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
