Drop in oil and derivatives’ prices in third week of July

AMMAN — The third week of July witnessed a remarkable decrease in the prices of oil and its derivatives, where the price of one Brent oil barrel went down by 6 per cent from $75.84 in the second week to $71.35 in the third week, the Energy Ministry announced on Monday.

According to the international reference markets accredited by the ministry, the world rate for diesel in the third week went down by 3.5 per cent when compared with the second week, recording the lowest price last Wednesday at $620.18 per tonne and the highest on Friday at $635.61, according to a ministry statement.

The prices of Octane 95 decreased by 3 per cent, registering the lowest price last Wednesday at $676.30 per tonne, and the highest last Monday at $708.66. For Octane 90, its price went down from $651.61 per tonne in the second week to $628.51 per tonne in the week after.
