Detectives arrest suspected artefact dealers, sorcerer

AMMAN — Preventive Security Department agents have arrested two suspects found in possession of artefacts in the governorates of Jerash and Balqa and a fraudster in Amman, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported on Wednesday.

Public Security Directorate Spokesperson Lt. Col. Amer Sartawi said that the suspect who was arrested in Balqa offered a collection of artefacts for sale for JD4 million. The other suspect was arrested in the governorate of Jerash possessing an artefact and 50 antique coins, the source said.

He added that the artefacts were sent to the Department of Antiquities to verify their historical value. Sartawi also said that the police arrested a sorcerer who cheated a woman in Amman, adding that an investigation was launched with the man who allegedly confessed that he had received JD15,000 from the woman.
