Dead Sea hosts workshop on natural disaster response

AMMAN — A two-day workshop on the most pressing natural hazards facing Jordan, organised by the National Centre for Security and Crisis Management and the Civil Defence Department, in coordination with several UN agencies concerned with humanitarian, development and food security issues, concluded at the Dead Sea on Wednesday.
Other attendees included organisations specialised in agriculture, water and irrigation, food security, earthquake observation, meteorology, geography, scientific studies, tourism, statistics and trade and economics.
A senior representative of the Palestinian National Technical Team for Disaster Risk Management also attended, indicating the Kingdom’s coordination with Palestinian authorities to plan for any cross-border natural or humanitarian emergency.
The workshop was held as part of the ongoing plans for disaster and risk management in the country, according to a joint statement released by the organisers.
