Crown Prince meets Jordanian students studying in US

AMMAN — HRH Crown Prince Hussein on Thursday met with Jordanian students studying in the US universities, a Royal Court statement said.

During the meeting, which was held at the Jordanian embassy in Washington DC, Crown Prince Hussein expressed his pride in these students and the efforts they exert in order to achieve high education levels and gain skills that will reflect on their performance after they graduate.

His Highness stressed that Jordanian youth have the determination to achieve excellence and creativity in all areas. 

He underlined the need to empower youth and motivate them to release their energies and translate their ideas into facts on the ground in the service of the country and people.

Prince Hussein listened to presentations from a number of students on their specialties, aspirations and ambitions to use all of their knowledge in serving Jordan.

According to the Open Doors report issued by the US State Department, the number of Jordanian students studying at institutions across the US reached a record number in 2016, rising to some 2,330, the largest number recorded since the figures had been tracked.

This number does not include students with Jordanian-American dual citizenship and represented an increase of 5.2 per cent from 2015. 

Jordan ranked then 8th in the Middle
East/North Africa region for number of students in the US.

There were around 1,000 American students at institutions in Jordan in the same year.
