AMMAN — The Chinese embassy in Amman on Thursday voiced appreciation for Jordan's efforts in condemning an assault against a Chinese investor and pledging punitive measures against the perpetrators.
"We condemn the assault against the Chinese investor that occurred on Wednesday in Zarqa and we appreciate the efforts exerted by Jordan and the local communities in this regard. We thank them for their sincere feelings and support," a source at the Chinese embassy told The Jordan Times on Thursday.
"The embassy, which called for strict measures against the assaulter, urges the Jordanian authorities to take more measures to ensure the protection of Chinese companies, institutions and individuals in the Kingdom as well as their belongings," the source said on Thursday.
The Chinese embassy also urged safeguarding the operation and implementation of joint cooperation projects implemented in the Kingdom.
On Wednesday, the government condemned the assault against the Chinese investor in Zarqa and said strict measures will be taken against the perpetrators.
State Minister for Media Affairs and Government Spokesperson Mohammad Momani on Wednesday said that the act was an assault against the national economy, the interests of the state and its citizens working together to attract foreign investments to the country.
Noting that the assault on the investor harms Jordan’s reputation, the minister stressed that strict legal measures will be taken against all suspected assailants.
