AMMAN — The Civil Defence Department (CDD) on Tuesday tested the newly installed sirens in Jerash, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported. CDD Director Lt. Gen. Talal Kofahi and Jerash Governor Qasim Mheidat attended the drill, in which 18 sirens around the governorate were tested.
The test concluded the second phase of a project to install sirens in Irbid, Jerash, Mafraq and Aqaba. The first phase was executed in 2015, with 112 sirens installed in and around Amman, and the third phase will include the remaining governorates.
The project seeks to ensure public safety by informing the public of any natural disasters or security threats, according to Petra.
