AMMAN — The Crown Prince Foundation and the Arab Women Enterprise Fund jointly organised an interactive discussion at the British Ambassador’s Residence on Wednesday.

The event was held as part of the follow up to the Jordan Growth and Opportunity initiative, a conference hosted by the UK in London this February, and in collaboration with the British embassy, according to a statement issued by the embassy.

Over lunch and in the presence of Ambassador Edward Oakden and Labour Minister Nidal Bataineh, young men and women discussed their ambitions and potentials, challenged governmental and business leaders through interactive discussion and were updated on progress regarding key challenges raised at the London Conference, the statement said.

“We are delighted to be partnering today with the Crown Prince Foundation and the Arab Women Enterprise Fund, both of which, as you all know, are working with young people in different capacities from youth empowerment to youth employment,” Ambassador Oakden was quoted as saying in his welcoming speech.

For his part, Bataineh said: “We at the Ministry of Labour and all its affiliated institutions understand the aspirations and dreams of the youth. I consider that the topics raised on this day are excellent, such as empowering young entrepreneurs, reviewing the labour law, reducing the gap between education and the requirements of the labour market, etc.”

Tamam Mango, CEO of the Crown Prince Foundation said: “We are proud of the youth, their commitment and professionalism in representing Jordan... and their ability to take responsibility,” according to the statement.

Reham Gharbiyeh, the country director of the Arab Women Enterprise Fund  said: “Because we at the Arab Women Enterprise Fund believe that women empowerment starts from local administration institutions we always aim to reach out to initiatives targeting youth. It is our pleasure today to work with Crown Prince Foundation on this event and we are looking forward for more collaboration in the near future.”

At the end of the event different groups delivered a summary of the event in tweet form using the London Conference inspired hashtag #GrowJordan, the statement concluded.
