AMMAN — British Ambassador to Jordan Edward Oakden, on Tuesday visited the governorate of Jerash to review a number of British-funded projects in the governorate, according to a statement by the British embassy.

During the visit, the ambassador met with the Governor of Jerash, Mamoun Louzi, MP Huda Otoum and Mayor Ali Gogazeh.

The visit also included time spent with various NGOs and representatives of programmes supported by the British government, as well as a Q&A session with local representatives. Oakden said: “The funding we’ve [the UK] provided is helping to relieve this pressure [refugee crises].

But we’re also investing in Jordan’s long-term future by empowering women and young people all over the kingdom including in Jerash to fulfil their potential in their local communities.”
