AMMAN — Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Maj. Gen. Yousef Huneiti on Monday three wounded Border Guards receiving treatment at the King Hussein Medical Centre after they were injured in the line of duty while engaging a group of smugglers on the Kingdom’s northeastern border on Sunday.

Also on Monday, Huneiti visited the Eastern Military Region Command, during which he ordered to change the rules of engagement applied by the armed forces to maintain the Kingdom’s security and assets.

The death of Captain Mohammad Yassin Khdairat, who was killed in the line of duty on the northeastern border, will only raise the armed forces’ determination to protect the Kingdom’s assets, he said, stressing that the General Command attaches top priority to support Border Guards, notably easing all logistical obstacles, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

During the past couple of days, a total of 5,004,000 Captagon pills and 6,123 palm-sized sheets of hashish were seized at the eastern border front, according to Petra.
