AMMAN — Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) personnel have seized 500,000 narcotic pills that were hidden in boxes loaded with batteries planned to be sent to a neighbouring country, the media centre at the Public Security Department said Sunday.
AND received information implicating a travel agency in Amman in a trafficking ring exporting drugs to a neighbouring country, after which department personnel raided the agency and seized the items.
Further investigation indicated that the traffickers used another travel agency in Irbid as well.
AND officers raided the agency and seized another 10 battery boxes containing drugs.
The agents identified three suspects, one of whom is an Arab national.
Two of the suspects have been detained and the third is still at large
