3.5-magnitude earthquake hits Wadi Araba on Wednesday — JSO

AMMAN — The Jordan Seismological Observatory (JSO) at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources recorded an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.5 degrees on the Richter scale in the Wadi Araba region at 3:56am on Wednesday.

The quake struck the area, about 45km west of Tafileh Governorate, at a depth of one kilometre, according to a JSO statement.

On April 10, the JSO had recorded an earthquake measuring 4.4 degrees on the Richter scale that also occurred in Wadi Araba 30 kilometres west of Tafileh and 20 kilometres south of the Dead Sea, at a depth of 21 kilometres, the statement added.
