AMMAN — Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) personnel have seized 15 kilogrammes of synthetic hashish hidden in a package at Queen Alia International Airport, the Public Security Directorate (PSD) Spokesperson said on Wednesday.
AND personnel working at the airport received a tip-off about a suspicious package reportedly containing cosmetics. While searching the package upon arrival at the airport, security agents found the narcotics, the spokesperson said as reported by the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
Two suspects believed to be involved in the case had been arrested, he added. Meanwhile, AND personnel seized 90,000 drug pills and 268 palm-sized sheets of hashish in Mafraq, the PSD spokesperson said.
AND agents received information about anonymous people hiding large amounts of drugs in an unpopulated area and upon searching the area, they found the drug stash, the spokesperson said. An investigation is under way, according to Petra.
