15 institutions closed in Aqaba over health violations

AQABA — The health monitoring department in the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) closed 15 food institutions in Aqaba during the first half of 2014.
Muwafaq Khashman, the department’s director, on Saturday said there are intensive campaigns in place to ensure that Aqaba residents and visitors receive high standard foodstuff.
The department checked 190 food samples and issued 73 final warnings and 52 fines to food outlets.
The department also destroyed 32 tonnes of food items during its campaigns.
