Hotelier Middle East names three Jordanians to ‘Top 25 Women’ list

Congratulations to three influential female leaders of the hospitality industry representing Movenpick — Jordan, for being listed in Hotelier Middle East’s “Top 25 Women in Hospitality”, and among the 25 most powerful women in the hospitality industry.

The list named Marketing and Communictions Director Dima Jaradat (left), Manager of Movenpick Petra Tatyana Atanasova (centre) and Director of Community and Public Relations Layali Nashashibi (right) to the list. 

Emirates to operate scheduled A380 service to Amman

Airline to operate largest commercial aircraft in the world for four month period during summer peak Emirates will operate its A380 aircraft to and from Amman between June 1st and October 26, 2019, to meet increasing demand for travel during the summer period.

This adjustment will see the airline operate one of its three daily flights on the route (EK 903/904) with its flagship A380. It will be the first time that Emirates will operate a scheduled A380 service to Amman, following the historic one-off A380 flight operated in September 2016.

In remarks, Adil Al Ghaith, Emirates’ senior vice president of commercial operations for Gulf, Middle East & Iran said, “Jordan has been a strategically important market in this region for Emirates for a long time.

The upgrade to an A380 service to Amman during the peak summer period is in line with our strategy to better serve seasonal peaks, and strengthen our presence in key markets by providing an industry-leading experience for our customers and offering them a seamless A380 experience via Dubai to major destinations around the world.”  

Jordanian raising awareness through Mount Kilimanjaro climb

Jordan’s 22-year-old Sara Asad is literally on her way to be on top of the world, as she sets out to climb one of the world’s seven highest summits for her campaign: Climbing Mount Kilimanjaro for Accessible Jordan.

She is going to climb the nearly 6,000-metre Mount Kilimanjaro to raise awareness for Accessible Jordan, a non-government organisation.“This is the only organisation in Jordan that focuses specifically on accessibility, an issue that affects us all,” Asad explains. With over 1 million people with physical disabilities in Jordan, Accessible Jordan is on a mission to raise awareness and improve accessibility for a more inclusive Jordan.

With Family Flavours and Nakahat Ailiyeh parenting magazines’ focusing on humanitarian causes, “we support this important fundraising initiative as accessibility effects not onlyadults but teens, children and babies too”, notes Hind-Lara Mango, publisher and managing director of Al Marji Publications. “Accessibility is a right, not a privilege,” she adds.

RJ among top 5 Middle Eastern airlines in punctuality in 2018

Royal Jordanian (RJ) ranked fourth in terms of punctuality among Middle Eastern airlines last year, with a 77.13 per cent on-time performance rate, according to OAG's Punctuality League study, released last week.

The Punctuality League report took into consideration 58 million flight records using full-year data from 2018 to rank the best on-time performance of the world’s largest airlines and airports. RJ came in after Saudi Arabian Airlines (81.12 per cent), which ranked third in this category; Qatar Airways obtained the 1st place (85.17 per cent) and Emirates came in second (81.44 per cent).

The airlines that qualified for inclusion in the Punctuality League have flight status data for at least 80 per cent of all scheduled flights operated. In remarks, RJ’s President/CEO Stefan Pichler said: “This is not the first time that we achieve a high score in an important factor 'the on-time performance'. I wish to thank our operations team for their outstanding performance.”

Middle East University celebrates Christmas

In a ceremony celebrating religious harmony and understanding, the Middle East University (MEU) celebrated Christmas and the holy holidays with fellow Christians.

At the ceremony, the university’s Chairman of the Board of Trustees Yacoub Nasereddin said Jordan is a beacon of understanding and harmony between religions, cultures and civilizations.

The ceremony was attended by MEU President Mohammad Al Hileh, several representatives of the religions of Islam and Christianity and members of the local community.

The chairman stressed that Jordan, under the leadership of King Abdullah II, gained a prestigious international status for its commitment to peace and its initiatives, including the Interfaith Harmony Initiative.

King Abdullah received the Templeton Prize as an international recognition of Jordan’s role as a messenger of love and peace. 

Father Nabil commended the national unity shared by all Jordanians, and demonstrated by their mutual affection, calling on youth to take pride in belonging to this country that embodies holiness, peace and harmony. 

RJ launches a 60-second self check-in service at Queen Alia International Airport

Royal Jordanian (RJ) passengers can now self check-in at Queen Alia International Airport using the Common Use Self Service kiosks, available at the departure terminal. Passengers’ boarding passes and luggage tags can now be issued without queuing at the check-in counters.

This service has been launched to coincide with the national carrier’s 55th anniversary, observed on December 15. 

RJ constantly endeavours to respond to passengers’ needs and facilitate their travel by adopting the latest technology, among which the Common Use Self Service that eases travel procedures and makes it smoother and quicker; the self check-in at these kiosks takes only 60 seconds.
