AMMAN — The Public Security Department (PSD) has recently launched a “No to Drugs, Yes To Life” parental guide under the patronage of PSD’s Maj. Gen.Fadel Hmoud.

The guide falls under the national “My Hand in Your Hand” drug awareness and prevention campaign being implemented by the Anti-Narcotics Department, according to a joint statement sent to The Jordan Times.

“PSD works in close partnership with the Jordanian Armed Forces, security services as well as citizens to address the drug addiction challenge,” Hmoud said at the launch ceremony, adding that the booklet  is a testament to what citizens can achieve when they come together to confront drug addiction.

The guide was produced by Al Marji’ Publications and sponsored by Cairo Amman Bank in partnership with the Royal Health Society (RHAS) and the Anti-Narcotics Department, the statement said.

“Cairo Amman Bank supports the local community in all fields, and this guide represents our belief in the importance of empowering parents and caregivers to contribute to the development and prosperity of our nation,” said Cairo Amman Bank CEO, Kamal Bakri.

“Parents and caregivers are at the front line when it comes to keeping children safe from drugs,” said Hind-Lara Mango, publisher and managing director of Al Marji’ Publications. “By creating direct and open channels of communication with kids, we are halfway to protecting our kids from addiction, which is much easier than seeing them through recovery,” she added.

RHAS Director General Hanin Odeh noted that “the launch of this guide is a continuation of the collaboration between RHAS, the Anti-Narcotics Department and Al Marji’ Publications”.

The guide, No to Drugs, Yes To Life, signifies the joint efforts of the public and private sectors in combatting the drug addiction challenge amongst teens in Jordan — a core message of the nationwide campaign, My Hand in Your Hand,  according to the statement.
