AMMAN — Senate President Faisal Fayez on Wednesday met separately with Greek Ambassador Irene Riga and Cypriot Ambassador Michalis Ioannou over the latest regional developments and ways to boost relations between Jordan and their respective countries in various fields.

During the meetings, Fayez highlighted the importance of enhancing relations with Greece and Cyprus, stressing the need to develop and build on these ties, especially in the economic, investment, and parliamentary fields, to serve joint interests, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

He reviewed Jordan's comprehensive reform process, which aims to enhance popular participation, form parliamentary governments, empower women and the youth, overcome economic challenges, and improve the investment environment.

Regarding the situation in the region and the Israeli aggression against Gaza and the West Bank, Fayez underlined His Majesty's efforts to end this attack and stop Israel's policies of starvation, ethnic cleansing, and systematic killing.

He called for opening all crossings into Gaza and lifting the siege to allow sufficient humanitarian and medical aid to reach those in need.

The Senate president urged the international community to support His Majesty's efforts to end regional conflicts, stop Israeli aggression, and find a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue based on international resolutions and the two-state solution.

Fayez reiterated that peace in the region and the world is unattainable while Israeli aggression against Palestinians continues.

The Greek and Cypriot ambassadors praised King Abdullah's significant role in pushing towards regional security and stability and in delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza.

They also commended Jordan's efforts in supporting Syrian refugees, highlighting the importance of their countries' "strong" partnership with the Kingdom in enhancing regional security and stability.
