Dead Sea farm, chalet rental businesses see uptick in bookings ahead of Eid

AMMAN — Farm and chalet rental businesses in the Dead Sea area have seen a surge in demand ahead of Eid Al Adha, say sector representatives.

Omar Irshaidat, who offers vacation rentals in his villa located near the Dead Sea, told The Jordan Times: “I turned my private farm into a rental business to earn extra cash, particularly during summer days.”

With Eid Al Adha around the corner, Irshaidat noted that locals and tourists are making reservations. He added that the average rate for rentals in the area is between JD150 and JD230.

“People in Jordan love going to the Dead Sea during holidays, and the thing they like the most when renting a villa or farm is the privacy,” he pointed out.

Mahmoud Tahseen, who also runs a family-owned vacation rental business, told The Jordan Times that his two villas near the Dead Sea are fully booked for Eid Al Adha.

He said that since the beginning of June, he has witnessed a significant number of bookings. However, customers are not choosing longer stays, they prefer one-day stays.

He noted that demand has risen by around 30-40 per cent since mid-May. 

“To run a rental business is quite challenging because managing villa operations and facilitating repairs takes a lot of time, effort and is costly,” according to Tahseen.

Speaking with The Jordan Times, Adam Eyad, a Jordanian citizen, said that “when choosing a rental villa, I make sure that the reviews are good and that the pool is clean”, noting that he is planning on staying at a private villa near the Dead Sea during Eid Al Adha.
