AMMAN — The Public Security Directorate (PSD) spokesperson on Tuesday said that there are still instances of individuals fleeing the scene following hit-and-run accidents.
These incidents are being investigated as to identify the perpetrators, who will be referred to the judiciary, according to a PSD statement.
The PSD's investigators have the ability to discover the perpetrators in these cases, even if the driver flees, the spokesperson said, adding that fleeing the scene of an accident is a strict legal violation.
The spokesperson urged all drivers, in the case of an accident, to abide by the necessary legal procedures and not flee the scene of the accident, and to provide assistance and first aid to the injured.
Leaving the scene of an accident could potentially lead to the loss of life of the victim, the statement read.
