AMMAN — The National Centre for Security and Crisis Management (NCSCM) on Sunday is scheduled to begin a public safety drill involving hazardous substances (chemical, biological, radiological) at different locations in the Kingdom. The drill will be held with the participation of the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF), security agencies, state institutions and the private sector, in cooperation with the US Defence Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), the Colorado National Guard (CONG) and the US embassy in Amman, according to a NCSCM statement. The exercise, titled "Jordan Shield", continues until Tuesday and includes simulations of various events on the outskirts of Amman and Irbid, Zarqa and Aqaba governorates.  The drill requires the implementation of training activities from various agencies and institutions, as well as a security presence, closures, rescue operations, sirens, evacuations and special vehicles. The NCSCM conducts exercises throughout the year in various regions of the Kingdom to test national plans in the fields of crises and natural disasters.
