AMMAN — Interior Minister Mazen Faraya inspected the Control and Coordination Centre in the Southern Industrial Zone in Aqaba, established by the Aqaba Ports Operation and Management and funded by industrial companies operating in the zone, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Faraya highlighted the role of the centre in reviewing standard, public-safety procedures implemented in industrial facilities, ensuring their application, and communicating with factories’ management teams to ensure public safety.

During his meeting with the director and members of the centre, in the presence of Aqaba Governor Khalid Hajjaj, and the directors of the security forces in the governorate, he added that the goal of establishing the centre is to reach the highest levels of public safety, strike a balance between investment requirements and reduction of risks, bolster coordination between all the concerned authorities, and report any public safety violation in industrial facilities.

“Establishing the centre came at the right time with the aim of monitoring public safety in the industrial zone, south of Aqaba”, he said, affirming the ministry’s support for this centre.

Hajjaj underlined the need for all security forces and industrial companies to cooperate with the centre to provide a safe environment for work and investment in the southern industrial zone.

Commissioner for Tourism and Environment at the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority Nidal Majali said that the centre is currently working on updating information related to the southern industrial zone.
