AMMAN — The 2022 International Healthcare Travel Forum (IHTF), which concluded on Monday, recommended maximising the use of technology, notably artificial intelligence, in healthcare.
President of the Private Hospitals Association (PHA) Fawzi Hammouri said that the IHTF made a number of recommendations, including the need to support medical specialties in the Kingdom to maintain Jordan’s status as a regional hub for medical treatment, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
The forum also highlighted the importance of public-private partnerships to improve the Kingdom’s competitiveness, he added, noting that the forum also recommended increased cooperation among the participating countries, sharing expertise more frequently and strengthening the role of diplomats in healthcare cooperation.
The forum also sparked recommendations related to strengthening the role of journalists, media figures and media institutions in highlighting Jordan’s health achievements and medical tourism, Hammouri said.
Titled “Amman: the capital of Arab medicine”, the three-day forum featured 750 participants from 52 countries.
Organised by the PHA, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health, the Jordan Tourism Board, the International Hospital Federation (IHF), the Global Healthcare Travel Council and the Arab Hospitals Federation, the Amman-hosted event aimed at enhancing the Kingdom’s status as a destination for medical tourism and healthcare travel.
