AMMAN — King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden, accompanied by Princess Rym Ali, the escort of honour, on Thursday visited the Zaatari camp for Syrian refugees and checked on the level of services offered by Jordan and international organisations working at the camp.
The King and Queen listened to a briefing by representatives from the camp administration, UNHCR, UNICEF and the World Food Organisation on the services offered in the educational and food fields, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
They also visited Hind bint Amr School to check on educational services for the camp’s children, and toured the community centre at the camp to have a firsthand look at social services offered by UNHCR.
During the tour, Their Majesties met with a refugee student who studies at a private university and expressed their admiration of her “excellence.”
