AMMAN — The Eastern Military Zone, in coordination with the Anti-Narcotics Department and security forces, on Wednesday thwarted an attempt to smuggle large quantities of narcotics across the Syrian border into Jordan.
A source at the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) said that rules of engagement were applied as soon as border surveillance teams identified a number of individuals attempting to illegally enter the Kingdom. A search of the area yielded 1,208 palm-sized sheets of hashish and 1.192 million Captagon pills, the source noted.
The JAF will "firmly deal" with any infiltration or smuggling attempts to protect the Kingdom's borders and its national security, the source said.
