AMMAN — The Eastern Military Zone, in coordination with the Anti-Narcotics Department and security forces, on Sunday foiled an attempt to smuggle 154 palm-sized sheets of hashish and 900,000 Captagon pills from Syria into the Kingdom, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
A source at the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF) said that the rules of engagement were applied as soon as surveillance teams at the borders identified a number of individuals attempting to illegally enter the Kingdom.
The JAF will "firmly deal" with any infiltration or smuggling attempt to protect the Kingdom's borders and its national security, the source stressed. Sunday’s operation comes as part of JAF’s exerted efforts to preserve the security of Jordan and protect its people from sources of drugs.
