Cabinet approves 2021-2025 National Strategy for Tourism

AMMAN — The Cabinet on Sunday approved the 2021-2025 National Strategy for Tourism, meant to support the sector to address the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. During a Cabinet session, Tourism Minister Nayef Fayez shared the main indicators during the 2019-2021 period, reviewing the main features of the strategy that aims to improve the sector's revenues, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
The tourism sector's performance during 2021, specifically during the second half, showed signs of recovery, thanks to the economic recovery plan and the gradual reopening of sectors, the minister said. The minister highlighted that arrivals to the Kingdom hit 383,000 visitors in August.
The Council of Ministers approved the 2021 draft building system and the planning of cities and villages. The Cabinet also approved the issuance of a special postage stamp, on the occasion of naming Madaba as the Arab Tourism Capital for 2022.
