AMMAN — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Sunday warned Israel against building new settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories.
The ministry’s official spokesperson Haitham Abu Al Foul stressed that the approval of the plan to build 3,000 new settlement units is a “rejected and condemned step” and represents a violation of international law and the relevant Security Council resolutions, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
He underlined that the Israeli settlement policy in the occupied Palestinian territories, whether settlement construction, settlement expansion, the seizing of Palestinian lands or the displacement of Palestinians, is illegitimate and illegal and undermines the chances of a two-state solution and the achievement of a comprehensive and just peace.
