AMMAN — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement, on Wednesday, condemned Israeli authorities’ approval for the construction of 3,144 new settlement units in the occupied Palestinian territories.
The official spokesman for the ministry, Ambassador Haitham Abu Al Foul said that this step is “a flagrant breach” of international law and resolutions, foremost of which is the Security Council Resolution No. 2334.
The spokesperson stressed that the Israeli settlement policy, manifested in establishing or expanding settlements, seizing lands or forcibly displacing Palestinians, is an illegal policy which is rejected and condemned.
Such violations undermine efforts to achieve a comprehensive and just peace as well as chances of materialising a two-state solution based on international resolutions.
