AMMAN — The Lower House on Tuesday, led by Speaker Atef Tarawneh, concluded the formation of 12 of its 15 permanent committees.
During the session, Tarawneh called on the members of the new committees to hold separate meetings on Wednesday to elect their presidents and deputies before the Lower House moves on to the formation of the three remaining committees, which are the energy and mineral resources, tourism, antiquities and public services and public freedoms and human rights committees, according to the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
According to the Chamber’s by-law, a committee can be composed of five to 11 members, and if the number of candidates exceeds 11, members are elected through ballot within 14 days of the start of each ordinary session.
An MP cannot be a member of more than two permanent committees and cannot be a member of a committee and the permanent office.
