Jordan, Canada discuss increasing academic cooperation

AMMAN — Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Walid Maani on Saturday called on Jordanian and Canadian higher education institutions open a dialogue on exchanging scholarships and implementing joint scientific research projects.
In a meeting with Canadian Ambassador to Jordan Peter MacDougall, Maani thanked the Canadian government for its $56.4 million grant to support of the ministry’s 2018-2022 budget and the education of Syrian refugees.
Maani also assured the ambassador that the ministry was prepared to exchange expertise with Canadian universities, particularly in the areas of technical and vocational training, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
According to ministry reports, 122 Canadian students are currently pursuing their degrees at Jordanian universities.
