Females constitute 47 per cent of population in 2017 — DoS

AMMAN — Females in the Kingdom totalled 4.7 million in 2017, accounting for 47 per cent of the population, the Department of Statistics (DoS) said on Wednesday in a statement issued on the occasion of the International Women’s Day.
For each 100 females, there are 113 males in Jordan, according to the DoS statement, carried by the Jordan News Agency, Petra.
Females who are less than 15 years old constituted 35.5 per cent of the total females, where the percentage increases for the age group (15-49) to reach 52.5 per cent, while females who were 50 years and over comprised 12 per cent.
