CID deals with 353 crimes last week

AMMAN — The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) dealt with 353 criminal cases last week, arresting 2,740 suspects linked to a variety of crimes, including thefts, scams, public indecency and cybercrimes, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported on Sunday. 

The CID personnel investigated 47 theft cases, with suspects arrested and part of the stolen items returned in 31 of the cases, in addition to 111 misdemeanour thefts, 109 of which were resolved.

The department investigated 36 scam cases, arrested all suspects involved and referred them to the judiciary, while also dealing with 117 cybercrime cases, Petra added. 

There were 11 vehicles reported missing, six of which were found by the CID, while the search for the others is ongoing, Petra reported, adding that the CID dealt with six cases involving human trafficking violations and 10 cases of public indecency. 

Among the 2,740 suspects arrested, 780 were wanted by the CID, 1,369 were wanted by the police, 493 by the judiciary and 23 by the Anti-Narcotics Department. 

In the total cases recorded last week, CID personnel confiscated five firearms and seven sharp tools.
