AMMAN — Jordan and France on Wednesday signed a partnership agreement to allow Jordanian atomic energy scientists to access nuclear research reactors of member countries of the “Nuclear Club”, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.
The agreement, which comes within the framework of the “International Centre based on Research Reactors” programme, was signed by Jordan Atomic Energy Commission Chairman Khaled Toukan and Director of the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission Daniel Verwaerde.
Toukan said that the agreement is the first of its kind to be signed by a Middle Eastern country, adding that the programme, launched in 2017 by the International Atomic Energy Agency, aims to allow scientists from member states to easily access research reactors in nuclear countries. Verwaerde said that France’s nuclear facilities are among the most advanced in the world in the field of nuclear research.
