AMMAN — The Public Security Department’s (PSD) anti-cybercrime unit personnel have arrested a suspect who allegedly threatened and abused an Arab female after convincing her he could cure using magic, according to a PSD statement on Thursday.
The statement said that the anti-cybercrime unit cadre followed on a news item on the social media that showed a girl from an Arab country getting abused by an individual living in the Kingdom, pretending to cure people through magic.
The man is accused of threatening to share her pictures and videos if she refused to pay him money, after she sent those files following his request in order to be “cured”. After the woman sent JD1000, the man continued asking for money.
The PSD managed to identify the suspect and his location, and arrested him for cyber-crime. The suspect confessed he had used several accounts to abuse people, especially females in order to receive money.
