AMMAN — Environment Minister Yaseen Khayyat and UNDP Country Director Zena Ali-Ahmad signed a cooperation agreement on Sunday for the implementation of a project targeting badia communities, according to a statement released by the UN agency.
The project, dubbed “Restoration of Sustainable Livelihoods Creation and Natural Resource Management in Badia Communities”, is aimed at encouraging herders in the badia regions to focus on sustainable production and revive the market of dairy products, thus improving their livelihoods.
The project, which comes under the ministry’s Badia Restoration Programme/Environmental Compensation Unit projects, will devise procedures to improve and increase the value of dairy products through raising the technical and management potential of the targeted cooperative corporations in the area, the statement said.
