Ballot papers ‘cannot be forged’ — IEC

By JT - Aug 06,2016 - Last updated at Aug 06,2016

AMMAN — Ballot papers for the September 20 elections will be protected by high-security features that cannot be forged, the Independent Election Commission (IEC) said on Saturday. At meetings to raise awareness of parliamentary elections in Aqaba, IEC Secretary General Ali Darabkeh outlined the Elections Law, the proportional electoral system and the method to calculate the results, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

On Thursday, the IEC’s media officer, Sharaf Abu Rumman, said that until Wednesday there had been 40 campaigning violations, which prompted the shutdown of candidate’s electoral headquarters, blocking SMS adverts and the takedown of campaign signs. He made the remarks at a seminar organised by Radio Al Balad in Balqa Governorate, according to a statement from the station.
