AMMAN — The Independent Elections Commission (IEC) on Saturday announced it has finalised the design of all three ballot papers for the upcoming local and governorate elections, a statement from the IEC said.
The announcement was made by the IEC Chairman Khalid Kalaldeh, in a meeting held with all electoral committees from across the Kingdom.
During the meeting, the commission distributed electoral kits to the committees, which included the designs of the ballot papers, to get them signed by the candidates and approve their names and photos. The distributed material also included the procedures for voting and counting, according to the statement.
The IEC’s Operations Department, along with dozens of volunteers, prepared and provided the electoral committees with the voters’ lists, the procedures for determining invalid votes, as well as explanatory infographics and designs.
The content of the kits has also been prepared in an individualised manner, the statement said, so that each electoral commission received the information it need, catered to its specific voting district.
The upcoming elections are scheduled to take place on August 15, while Kalaldeh specified August 1 as the printing date of the ballot papers.
According to Kalaldeh, “each and every IEC process is currently going smoothly and as planned; we have been ready for this election for a while”, the statement concluded.
