AMMAN — Families will have a wide range of activities to watch and get involved in as the country witnesses a major celebration on Friday to mark the centennial of the Great Arab Revolt, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

During the festivity, dubbed the Arab Renaissance Celebration and to be held at the King Hussein Park in Amman, there will be art shows by folkloric bands and singers, in addition to air shows by military, Royal Jordanian and Falcons airplanes.

Children and their families can also enjoy their time at the ceremony, which also features performances, face painting and games, Petra added.

During the event, the youth can enjoy rappelling,         paintball and darts, as well as competitive games such as kites, bicycles and skates with winners receiving awards.

The main event of the ceremony, which will include a fireworks show, will be the Renaissance Parade that will start from the King Hussein Business Park to the King Hussein Park, featuring military shows.

The festivity will be a signature event as the country celebrates the occasion of the revolt, which was declared by Sharif Hussein Bin Ali in June 1916 against the Ottoman rule, triggering a renaissance in the Arab world.

Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army and Public Security Department personnel will perform two shows that reflect high levels of harmony and professionalism, Petra said.

The event, starting at 10:00am and continuing until 8:30pm, will include several activities and artistic performances at King Hussein Park, with a number of Jordanian artists performing.

Celebrating the occasion, the Greater Amman Municipality built a historical corridor of the Great Arab Revolt inside the parks, which mainly comprise a mural that displays the Kingdom’s history throughout the different eras.
